Inspirational Thoughts
... and Encouiraging Words

The prayer of Jabez: "Lord, bless me indeed, expand my territories, keep your loving hand on me always, and keep me from evil and harm." 1 Chronicles 4:10

When I am Old...

I shall wear turquoise and soft gray sweatshirts... and a bandana over my silver hair.....and I shall spend my Social Security Checks on Sweet Wine and My Dogs.......and sit in my house on my well-worn chair and listen to my dog's breathing.

I will sneak out in the middle of a warm Summer night and take my dogs for a run, if my old bones will allow... and when people come to call, I will smile and nod as I show them my dogs...and talk of them and about them... The Ones so Beloved of the Past and the Ones so Beloved of Today.... I still will work hard cleaning after them and mopping and feeding them and whispering their names in a soft, loving way.. I will wear the gleaming sweat on my throat, like a jewel and I will be an embarrassment to all...and my family... who have not yet found the peace in being free to have dogs as your Best Friends.... These friends who always wait, at any hour, for your footfall...and eagerly jump to their feet out of a sound sleep, to greet you as if you are a God. With warm eyes full of adoring love and hope that you will stay and hug their big, strong necks...and kiss their dear sweet heads...and whisper to them of your love and the beautiful pleasure of their very special company....

I look in the Mirror...and see I am getting old.... this is the kind of woman I am...and have always been. Loving dogs is easy, they are part of me, accept me for who I am, my dogs appreciate my presence in their lives...when I am old this will be important to me...you will understand when you are old....& if you have dogs to love too.

Excerpt from Max Lucado "Reflections on The Savior": "...a ninety-year-old woman gets pregnant, a woman turns to salt, a flood blankets the earth, a bush burns (but doesn't burn up)! The Red Sea splits in two, the walls of Jericho fall, the sky rains fire, and a donkey speaks. Talk about special effects!"

'How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord almighty! My soul yearns and even faints, for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God." Psalm 84: 1& 2

"Amazing Love"

Im forgiven because you were forsaken,
Im accepted; you were condemned,
Im alive and well, your spirit is within me,
because you died and rose again.

Amazing Love, How can it be,
that you my King should die for me?
Amazing Love , I know it's true, and
it's my joy to honor you, in all I do,
to honor you, in all I do, I honor you.

There Is A Legend...
At the time of Crucifixion the dogwood had been the size of the oak and other forest trees. So firm and strong was the tree that it was chosen as the timber for the cross. To be used thus for such a cruel purpose greatly distressed the tree, and Jesus nailed upon it, sensed this.
In His gentle pity for all sorrow and suffering Jesus said to the tree:
" Because of your regret and pity for My suffering, never again shall the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used as a cross. Henceforth it shall be slender and bent and twisted and its blossoms shall be in the form of a cross - two long and two short petals. And in the center of the outer edge of each petal there will be nail prints, brown with rust and stained with red, and in the center of the flower will be a crown of thorns, and all who see it will remember."

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs ...

Church Signs
Have you ever been driving down the road at 50 or 60 mph, passed a church and tried to read the sign out front? Here are a few that a friend sent to me. Some may sound funny, corny, or serious, but they always carry a good message for one liners:

"Exposure to the Son may prevent burning."

"The best vitamin for a Christian is B1."

"Under same management for over 2000 years."

"Soul food served here."

"Tithe if you love Jesus! Anyone can honk!"

"Beat the Christmas rush, come to church this Sunday!"

"Don't wait for the hearse to take you to church."

"Don't give up. Moses was once a basket case."

"Wal-Mart isn't the only saving place!"

"Prevent truth decay. Brush up on your Bible."

"It's hard to stumble when you're down on your knees."

"What part of 'THOU SHALT NOT' don't you understand?"

"A clear conscience makes a soft pillow."

"Never give the devil a ride. He will always want to drive."

"Can't sleep? Try counting your blessings."

"Forbidden fruit creates many jams."

"Christians, keep the faith -- but not from others!"

"Satan subtracts and divides. God adds and multiplies."

"If you don't want to reap the fruits of sin, stay out of the devil's orchard."

"To belittle is to be little."

"Don't let the littleness in others bring out the littleness in you."

"God answers knee mail."

"Life has many choices. Eternity has two. What's yours?"

"Worry is interest paid on trouble before it is due."

"The wages of sin is death. Repent before payday."

"Try Jesus. If you don't like Him, the devil will always take you back."
